Offer the Buoyancy Aid

If you sell beginner inflatable craft, this is the pledge: suitable flotation, visible and directly offered, before checkout. Practical, season-ready, no certification small print.

Four commitments, ready for this season.

None of this requires putting the same flotation product in every box — suitability depends on the person, activity, clothing, location, and conditions. It requires making the choice visible.

Availability

  • Sell suitable buoyancy aids, PFDs, or lifejackets wherever beginner inflatable paddleboards, inflatable kayaks, or similar craft are sold.
  • Keep flotation equipment visible for the same promotional dates as the craft.
  • For marketplaces, make the offer visible in the listing, basket, or recommendation journey rather than only through unrelated search results.

Before checkout

  • Directly offer suitable flotation equipment when the craft does not include it.
  • State plainly when flotation equipment is not included with the craft.
  • Avoid making pumps, bags, seats, fins, or leisure accessories look like a complete safety set.

Fit and suitability

  • Show manufacturer sizing, weight or chest range, adjustment guidance, intended activity, and adult or child suitability.
  • Make clear that fit, person, activity, clothing, location, and conditions affect what is suitable.
  • Avoid implying that one bundled item suits every buyer, child, body size, craft, activity, or water environment.

Merchandising and imagery

  • Place flotation equipment beside craft in-store or in the same visible online purchase journey.
  • Use product imagery and merchandising that normalise suitable visible flotation equipment.
  • Pair the offer with short prompts about conditions, local rules, ability, and calling for help.

A plain checklist, not a kite mark.

The pledge isn't a certification scheme, rating, or legal standard — it's the practical version of what we're asking every seller to do. Write your customer-facing wording from the latest recognised guidance and the manufacturer's instructions, adopt what you can now, and tell us so the scorecard reflects it.
