Calling for help

A beginner buying an inflatable craft should also be prompted to think about how they would call for help.

Help-calling advice belongs before the first trip.

This page is a campaign signpost. Follow current emergency guidance for the water and location you are using.

  • A way to call for help should be carried on the person where it remains accessible if separated from the craft.
  • Retail safety wording should not imply that a phone or help-calling device stored in the craft is enough.
  • Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back.
  • Emergency advice varies by location and activity — check the recognised source for the water you'll be on.
